Women Are Magic: A Reflection On Our First Women’s Circle
Wow!! Our first Sacred Womb Space was........beyond my wildest dreams!! I walked into this circle imagining that I'd be there to hold space, support, and care for other mamas so they could take a load off and be fully seen, accepted, and held in sisterhood for a day. I'm one who KNOWS the power of women and somehow I still underestimated what this circle would be. Not only were my desires for the circle met with each woman expressing her gratitude and excitement for being in this circle, but I was blown away at how filling it was for me too.
After everyone left (an hour and a half later than we had planned for because everyone was enjoying themselves so much), I sat at the altar for another hour and a half listening to the chickens, soaking up the sun in gratitude, and journaling my heart out. I felt so filled, so proud of myself for stepping out and providing this space for women, and so grateful for all the women who came and the gifts they shared with us. Its been a week since we've met and I've been mulling it over in my heart since, wondering what I could share-without breaking the sacred container we created together.
We have a few core agreements in our circle. One of those agreements is that what's shared in sacred space stays in sacred space. So while I won't be telling anyone's story, I do want to reflect on the energy, the themes, and the deep honor it is to witness women in their rawest, most authentic and safe truths.
There were stories of grief shared, stories of celebration, of loss and new beginnings, of GREAT healing through some of the HARDEST things. There was more than one story of triumph even through super hard experiences. And while each woman's story was different, there was this shared goal for softness-for space to be held, not fixed. One of the most powerful themes that emerged was the feeling of no longer being alone. Time and time again, women looked around that circle and realized—someone else gets it. That’s the magic of being witnessed: the loneliness starts to lift.
There were phone numbers, recipes, and gifts exchanged-friendships and a sisterhood created. There were synchronicities that could only come from deep alignment. And of course—there were hikes, tears, laughter, hugs, and food shared among this wild and mystical sisterhood.
It's a sacred thing, to be trusted with another woman's truth. It was absolutely beautiful to witness the strength of these women and remind them where it was when they didn't see it in their story, to witness some of them share their birth story/vision for the first time and, through that sharing and being witnessed, feel things they didn't even realize were there prior. (Women, your birth story is POWERFUL and NEEDS to be shared!!) Its sacred to witness one woman's birth story begin to heal another woman's heart. All of it! Its just really f*ckin sacred and I'm SO damn honored!!
If you've never sat in circle like this, it may sound strange. But there's magic in a circle of women, especially when they're meeting under the trees by the fire and creek bed. There isn't a need to explain yourself or perform. You just show up as you are and that's enough. And in the process, every single one of us in the circle are gifted and filled to the rim.
There's so much I can't share about the day, but here's what I can: Women are magic. When we gather, healing happens. Whether you join us next time or simply hold this truth in your heart-I hope you remember: you don't have to do it alone. You AREN'T alone.
Our next circle meets in a few short weeks. Join the Sacred Womb Space email list if you'd like to join us!!
